34000 teachers to undergo training in e-learning under SSA this year: Saugat Biswas
JAMMU: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today interacted with the master trainers for e-learning being trained under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) at the training center established at Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School (SRML) Jammu.
While interacting with the master trainers, the Minister talked about the innovative ways in which information technology and the internet can be used for making teaching and learning interesting and effective for the students. He asked the trainers to ensure optimal utilization of the smart classrooms and CAL centers established in many schools of the state and also the use the Knowledge Network platform created by the education department.
Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Shaleen Kabra, also spoke to the trainees on the occasion and enthused trainees with various innovative ideas in e-learning. During the interaction that went on for two hours the trainees also demonstrated lectures prepared by them with e-resources and tools such as MS Powerpoint etc.
State Project Director, RMSA & SSA Saugat Biswas informed that this year SSA is training 34000 teachers in e-learning thereby ushering in a revolution in usage of information technology and the internet for teaching children. The master trainers are currently being prepared through a carefully crafted training module which has been developed by SSA, J&K in collaboration with NEILIT, J&K. Training centers are bing established at all the 220 smart classrooms across 22 districts of the state covering the targeted 34000 teachers in two months. The training is simultaneously going on in Kashmir and Jammu regions. Teachers are being sensitized to various open source e-leaning platforms and mobile apps such as Khan Academy, makemegenius.com, Bodhaguru, Pratham e-books, e-Basta, e-Pathshala, NCERT e-books, JKBOSE books, Story Weaver etc and computer based tools such as MS PowerPoint, Google Tools, Smart Board hardware and software etc. he added.
Various resource persons from NEILIT, Jammu and NEILIT Srinagar and Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellows with Education Department Vaibhav Jindal and Mayur Khaire are leading the trainings. The training program for creating Master Trainers is completed for the Jammu region in four phases and two out of four phases are over for the Kashmir region.
