JAMMU, Apr 26: Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar today laid foundation stone of newly opened Government Degree College Jindrah in Nagorta constituency.
Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi, MLA Nagrota, Devender Rana, Director Colleges, Principal GDC Jindrah, Alarge number of local people and students were also present on the occasion.
The GDC Jindrah is presently functioning from local Government Higher Secondary School.
The new college campus with a sprawling 100 kanal expanse would have 40,000 Sq ft building area and would be completed in two phases at a cost of Rs 11.60 crore.
In the first phase, the executing agency, Jammu and Kashmir Police Housing Corporation would construct academic block, office block and other miscellaneous civil work involving a cost of near Rs 7 crore. The second phase would include construction of other civil works and development of campus area at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore
Examining the construction plan and blue print, the Ministers inquired about the preparations made for under taking the construction. They were told that maximum land has been acquired and after the demarcation of the campus limits the construction work would be taken up.
The Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar asked the Managing Director J&KPHC Arun Kumar Choudhary to complete the construction work positively in 18 months. He asked the MD to avoid useless expenditure on embellishments and instead ensure use of quality material to come up with a durable building having spacious lecture rooms, laboratories, libraries and other accommodations.
The MD assured that the Corporation would do everything to meet the deadline.
