JAMMU, July 24: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today stressed the need to put in dedicated and sincere efforts so that better academic results are achieved this session, adding that focus of the Government is to improve the education system in the State.
The Minister was speaking at a meeting convened to review the performance of Education Department in Jammu division today.
Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi was also present in the meeting.
Referring to recently declared results and poor performance of certain Government schools, the Minister said that the teachers need to put in their best efforts to ensure better results in future. He reviewed the performance of various Schools of Jammu division during the meeting.
The Minister said that the performance of the teachers and Principals of all the schools will be judged on the pass percentage in an academic session. He said that poor performance by any such school from here on will lead to strict action against the Principal, while as better performing ones will be equally rewarded.
The Minister asked Director School Education Jammu to ensure that Principals also teach certain subjects themselves, and even take extra classes, focusing more on better performing children so as to improve the results.
Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi laid emphasis on maintaining quality of education and teaching. She stressed on coordinated efforts to achieve the desired goals. She asked the Principals to work with zeal and dedication to improve the education scenario in the State.
During the meeting issues related to accommodation available in schools was also discussed.
Director School Education Yasha Mudgal, Chief Education Officers of various districts, Principals and other senior officers attended the meeting.
