Nagar Kirtan taken out

RAJOURI, Oct 13: The Sikh community members took out a large ‘Nagar Kirtan’ in Rajouri town today in connection with the birthday of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
The people in large number offered special prayers at Gurdwara Chatti Padshai, Rajouri town and later took out Nagar Kirtan to mark the occasion. The members of the other communities also joined them. The youth and women also participated in the Nagar Kirtan in large number. The youth displayed martial art (Gatka) during the procession.
They were raising slogans in the praise of great warrior, who originally hailed from Rajouri and then turned ‘Bairagi’. Later, he turned the follower of the great Sikh Guru, Sri Gobind Singh Ji and picked up sword for the protection and safety of countrymen and fought several wars against Mughals in Punjab and other parts in North India.
The religious procession after passing through main bazaar, finally culminated at Mini Sports Stadium in the town. A community Langar was also arranged by the Management Committee of local Gurdwara on the occasion.
