Nagrota Migrant camp inmates protest against water scarcity

JAMMU, Apr 29: The inmates of Migrant Camp Nagrota under the banner of Ekta Manch led by Chand Ji Khair and Chand Ji Bhat held a protest against water scarcity in the camp.
The protestors alleged that the camp inmates were facing acute shortage of drinking water for last two months with authorities at the helm of affairs taking no steps to settle the issue. The problem has compounded further after the rising of temperature during this month.
They said neither the PHE Department nor any Government agencies take cognisance of sufferings of camp inmates on account of water crisis. They said the camp inmates approached the Relief Commissioner and PHE Department but to no avail.
They said the motor of ground water well has developed a sang and it has not been rectified so far.
The representatives of protestors who included a large number of women later called on SHO Nagrota and apprised him of the problem created due to water crisis in the camp. The SHO Nagrota took up the issue with higher ups in PHE.
The PHE authorities assured to look into the matter and solve the same within some days.
The general secretary of the Manch Vijay Pandita also addressed the protestors.
