JANDRAH Oct 19: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Sunday exuded confidence that the developmental profile of Nagrota will witness a huge transformation with setting up of new administrative units, saying these will bridge the gap between people and the administration.
“Nagrota has got what it sought as far as creation of new administrative units is concerned”, Mr Rana said while addressing a gathering converged at Jandrah to celebrate its tehsil status.
The Provincial President gave credit for historic and path-breaking decisions with regard to creation of much awaited administrative units to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, saying his visionary initiatives have put Jammu and Kashmir on the path of peace, progress and prosperity.
“The ongoing term of the Chief Minister has been herald and consolidating peace which paved way for development and achieving self reliance in various sectors”, Mr Rana said, adding that the successes on various fronts like realising the objective of normalcy, accelerating development, instilling sense of security among the people, giving new impetus to economic activity and introducing legislations for making the administration accountable to people have unnerved the opponents who were now taking recourse to disinformation campaign and slanderous propaganda.
“The people are capable of judging the enviable performance of Omar led Government in the past six years notwithstanding numerous odds and obstacles”, he said, adding that the Government never dithered in meeting the urges and aspirations of the people.
Referring to grant of tehsil status to Jandrah, the Provincial President described it the result of resoluteness and steadfastness shown by the people who stood under one banner for the larger interest of the area. He said National Conference has all along respected the will of people and it is this spirit that has made things moving towards right direction.
Mr Rana, who is National Conference candidate for the Nagrota Assembly Constituency said the status of sub division and tehsil is apt for Nagrota to become Nava Jammu and flourish as a satellite township in the neighbourhood of the state’s winter capital.
He reiterated his vision of Nagrota as Nava Jammu like Gurgaon of Delhi or Navi Mumbai of Mumbai and said the idea has caught the imagination of the people who have started to give a serious thought for fanning out to the area.
Mr Rana said that with cooperation of the people, he will be able to realise the dream of thousands of young people of Nagrota who will be the beneficiaries and stakeholders of the change. He said much has been done towards developing the constituency yet more is still required to be initiated and accomplished. He said that a network of roads has been undertaken with construction of a vital bridge which is important for connectivity. He said other developmental sectors too have got impetus during recent years which have qualitatively changed the lifestyle of the people. He also made a mention of new administrative units created in the constituency and said these will bring administration closer to the people.
