NAGROTA, Aug 20: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Wednesday said that Nagrota has immense potential to get transformed as New Jammu and pledged to transform this vision into reality with the support of people.
“Located in immediate periphery of the winter capital, Nagrota has huge potential for development and scope to emerge as NEW JAMMU Satellite Township with all modern amenities”, the Provincial President said while addressing workers meetings at Sidhra, Showa, Agore, Chingral, Keeri and other places in the constituency during the day.
Mr Rana, who is National Conference candidate for the constituency, declared that a futuristic plan will be drawn to develop this landmark destination on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Special emphasis will be laid on internal road connectivity, which he described as key to growth and development, with focus on raising infrastructure. He said the strategically placed constituency will be developed as a gateway to holy Vaishno Devi pilgrimage and tourism rich Kashmir Valley.
Spelling out his vision on development of the constituency, Mr Rana said that keeping in view its geographical placement, lush green forests, magnificent rivulets; a strong sports edifice could be raised so that the area is showcased as face of Jammu. “The huge land mass available right from Sidhra has immense potential for development as sports destination of international standards”, he said, adding the constituency is enriched with virgin spots for tourism promotion. He said he has initiated several projects, in his capacity as Member Legislative Council, to upgrade utility services and undertake development.
He sought the vote and support of people, saying this will give him the strength to pursue his mission of a prosperous and progressive New Jammu. “It is achievable if the people, especially youth join me and become part of this ambitious effort”, he said and acknowledged with gratitude the love being bestowed upon him by all segments of society in Nagrota. He said grit and determination were imperative for achieving objectives, which are aimed at general good. “I assure you that Nagrota will get transformed as a vibrant destination and economic hub of Jammu in next few years”, he maintained.
Referring to crucial importance of public involvement in taking forward developmental scenario, Mr Rana said he is a strong believer of participatory effort and would take the people on board about devising an ambitious profile for the Constituency. He urged the people to help him in his mission and work for the betterment of this constituency, which has not got its rightful place so far. Being so near to the capital city, most of the areas remain to distant, as a result of which desired growth has not taken place in Nagrota.
The Provincial President dwelt upon the efforts initiated by Omar led Government during the past nearly six years and said the performance registered so far speaks about the earnestness of National Conference to steer Jammu and Kashmir to a new era of progress and development.
Mr Rana urged the party workers to fan out across the constituency and make people aware about the steps taken for the overall development of the State. He expressed satisfaction over the drive and initiative of his party workers in helping people to seek redressal of their problems.
Earlier, the Provincial President laid the foundation stone of a Shed at the graveyard, Sidhra.
