NAGROTA, Aug 5: With the sit-in-dharna launched by Nagrota Sangarash Samiti entering Day-15, the protestors have asserted that their resolve will not break on the face of muteness of the administration over their demand for resumption of the work on the Government Degree College here.
“We won’t allow the machinations of vested interests to succeed as it concerns the future of our children who want to pursue higher education”, senior National Conference leader and Block Development Council Chairperson Choudhry Rehmat Ali said while expressing anguish over the lackadaisical attitude of the administration in general and the Higher Education Department in particular. He said this negates the tall claims of the administration to make available education at door steps, especially in rural and far-off areas.
He said that laying of the foundation stone by Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education Department at a function held with much fanfare is not enough and there is need to proceed ahead with sincerity of purpose in expediting the work of the college complex
The BDC Chairperson lamented over the insensitivity of the administration which has forced the people to take to streets and hold dharna in the scorching heat and intermittent monsoon rains. He cautioned the concerned department against any misadventure in even thinking about relocation of the college, saying the people would unitedly fight and foil such designs.
