Naidu announces Rs 5 cr for flood-hit victims of J & K

HYDERABAD : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 crore to families of flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir. Lauding the mammoth multi-agency rescue efforts underway in Jammu and Kashmir to rescue lakhs of people trapped in flood-ravaged areas, the Chief Minister said that the state has sent 300 metric tonnes of ready-to-eat packaged food, a release from Chief Minister’s Office said here today. The Chief Minister said that 145 metric tonnes of food has already been air-lifted by Air Force personnel. The nutritious food, which is made of wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar, is uncooked and can be consumed by mixing water . An estimated four lakh people are believed to be trapped in floods which have claimed nearly 200 lives in the state. (AGENCIES)
