Namrta urges Govt to control price rise of essential commodities

JAMMU, Mar 16: Apni Party provincial president Jammu women wing Namrta Sharma today urged the Government to reduce taxes on petrol and diesel so that the inflation of essential commodities can be controlled.
Namrta said that the price of essential commodities has increased and it has over burdened the common masses especially the poor. She was speaking during a function at Model Town, Digiana in Gandhi Nagar constituency wherein several women joined Apni Party under her leadership.
“The people are not able to bear the expenses of goods and vegetables. The cost of all the goods has witnesses a sharp rise which should be controlled by the Government by reducing taxes imposed on petrol and diesel,” said Namrta.
She was also appraised about the developmental issues of different areas, increasing eve-teasing incidents, and drug addiction in Gandhi Nagar by the inhabitants of the area.
While listening to their grievances, Namrta said that the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has failed completely and there seems no mitigation of their concerns. “The cleanliness is in worst condition. The roadside and corners in localities dumped with garbage and the garbage management has completely collapsed,” alleged Namrta.
Namrta appealed police department to ensure safety and security of women in Model Town, Digiana and keep check on the eve-teasing incidents.
While welcoming the new comers into the party fold, Apni Party provincial vice president, Jammu and Ex-MLC Syed Asgar Ali said that women should come forward and join the political activities and be a part of change.
He said that the women have played important role to curb drug addiction in J&K. He insisted on women education and their social, economic and political empowerment.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included J&K Trade Union president Ajaz Qazmi, general secretary youth wing J&K Abhay Bakaya, Ex-MLA and incharge district president Udhampur Faqir Nath and Dr Rohit Sharma (provincial secretary Jammu).
