JAMMU, Oct 3: The inhabitants of Nanak Nagar Sector 14 near Bahu Plaza have expressed grave concern over defunct street lights in the area due to which there is total darkness during the night hours.
The residents of the area through Surjit Singh general secretary, PoJK Refugees Association alleged that despite taking up the issue with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) authorities they failed to restore the street lights in the area.
Surjit Singh said that in view of the failure of the JMC to restore the street lights by replacing the faulty ones with new lights, the authorities of the civic body have exposed the people of the area to grave risk. He said any mishap can happen during darkness in the area and who will be responsible for the same. He made separate appeals to Mayor and Commissioner, JMC to look into the matter and solve the problem of the residents faced by them on account of defunct street lighting system in the area.
