KATRA, Mar 15: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), Katra, successfully performed a complex bilateral total knee replacement surgery on a 69-year-old patient from Punjab.
Kanta Rani, a resident of Taragarh, Dinanagar, Punjab, was suffering from advanced osteoarthritis and severe knee deformities for over a decade.
After multiple unsatisfactory consultations, she and her family chose Dr. Vikas Padha, Senior Consultant, Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, where she underwent a successful bilateral knee replacement in one sitting.
“It was a challenging surgery due to the severity of deformities but with our advanced infrastructure and expert team, we achieved full correction,” said Dr. Padha.
The patient walked the next day and was discharged on the fifth day in stable condition.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director, SMVDIME said: “The increasing number of patients choosing Katra over metro-cities is a testament of excellence of SMVDNSH.”
He said that equipped with state-of-the-art modular operation theatres, advanced ICUs, 24×7 emergency services and high-end diagnostic facilities, the hospital now attracts patients from across North India.
Dr. M.M Mathavan, Facility Director, SMVDNSH said: “Earlier, patients from J&K would travel to Punjab and Delhi for such surgeries. Now, we see the trend reversing, proving that our hospital has become a trusted name in complex joint replacements.”
With over 500 successful complex joint replacements, Dr. Padha has earned ‘Pillars of India’ Award from Punjab Government for his contributions to orthopaedics.
