KISHTWAR, Jan 11: Police here today arrested a notorious peddler of narcotic substances and recovered cannabis like substance from him.
Acting on the guidance of SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal, cops led by SHO Kishtwar, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday established a checkpoint at Panditgam area wherein during the checking of vehicles and pedestrians, cops intercepted a vehicle with registration number JK17A-5611.
On search a significant quantity of cannabis like substance was found in the possession of the driver identified as Imran Ahmed Sheikh, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh, resident of Bandrena, Kishtwar after which he was arrested.
A case in this regard has been registered in an FIR with number 13/2024 Under Section 8/20/25 of NDPS Act at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation was started.
SSP Kishtwar has urged the general public to share any information related to such activities with Kishtwar Police to tackle the menace of narcotics addiction and sale.
