RAMBAN, July 3: Police arrested a narcotics smuggler and recovered 70 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near Shan Palace and intercepted a Jammu bound vehicle bearing registration number JK18A-8068.
During checking, police recovered 70 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The arrested person has been identified as Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, a resident of village Churut in Qazigund, Kashmir.
A case under FIR Number 101/18 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
