KATHUA, Aug 7: Acting tough, Kathua Police on the orders of District Magistrate Kathua today detained one notorious narco smuggler namely Jeevan Kumar alias Jeeva S/o Nek Ram R/o Chak Drab Khan, district Kathua under Public Safety Act and sent him to Central Jail Jammu.
The accused was responsible for spreading drugs in society and playing with the career of many youths.Police Station Kathua has booked him in many cases under Excise and NDPS Act with FIRs 258/2009 , 167/2010 ,354/2010 under Excise Act and 351/2016, 251/2018, 239/2019 under NDPS Act.
“His detention would surely spread a strong message to all drug peddlers that Kathua Police will not spare any such accused who is spreading drugs and other narcotics in the society.People of the area widely appreciated the stern action of Police against him,” a police spokesman said, adding that police parties led by DySP Headquarter Kathua, Nikhil Rasgotra prepared the case of PSA detention of the accused.
“Kathua Police is striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace. We request people of the area to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption with Police for the cause,” he added.
