JAMMU, June 2: Additional Sessions Judge Kupwara Khem Raj Sharma today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to two heroin smugglers namely Mohammad Shafi Lone and Bilal Ahmad Dar.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “the menace of drugs is on increase in these days and main sufferer of this menace is younger generation of society and due to this menace, the life of younger generation is being put on the peril of destruction thereby affecting not only the individual families but the society in large also and in order to save the youth, who are future of the society, from destruction the easy availability of drugs including supply thereof at doorsteps is to be curbed with an iron hand.”
But considering the mitigating circumstances which overweigh the aggravating circumstances, Court awarded a sentence of rigorous imprisonment of 10 years to both the convicts/accused persons.
