JAMMU, June 22: Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ today nabbed a narcotics trafficker, who used to supply banned syrup bottles and intoxicants among the youth.
As per police sources, on credible information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka at Zorawar Singh Chowk near Nanak Nagar and signaled a Swift car bearing registration number JK02AC-0955 to stop for checking.
Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the active cops intercepted the vehicle after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 1439 intoxicant capsules, 165 tablets and 194 banned syrup bottles from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The arrested person has been identified as Gursharan Singh, son of Jeet Singh, a resident of Nanak Nagar Jammu.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that in year 2016, the accused was also arrested in a fake currency case registered with Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu and now was indulging in bringing these drugs from outside the State to sell amongst youth of Jammu so as to make them drug addicts and ruin the future generation.
With his arrest, the police not only saved the youth from becoming drug addicts, but also saved their families from daily quarrels as it is understood that a drug addict create nuisance in family and society in general.
A case under FIR Number 139/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by SI Rohit Bhagat and SI Madan Lal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
