Narcotic peddler held, heroin seized

RAJOURI, June 23: Police today arrested drug peddler from Thanamandi area and seized 35 grams of heroin like substance from his possession.
Police in its official statement said that a team headed by Station House Officer Thanamandi Fareed Ahmed under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Thanamandi Sajjad Khan was on routine patrolling when the accused was intercepted near Thanamandi town.
During frisking 35 grams of narcotic powder, suspected to be heroin, was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Latief, son of Kamal Din of Chackchotipura in Shopian.
A case FIR number 120/2020, under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Thanamandi Police Station and further investigation into the matter is on.
Meanwhile, a bootlegger was also held at village Tanda. The accused, identified as Kuldeep Singh alias Deepa, son of Sikander Singh of Tanda Salheri was carrying 05 ltrs of illicit liquor. In this connection case FIR number 61/20, under section 48A, 50(1) Excise Act has been registered against the accused.
