KISHTWAR, Sept 16: Police here today arrested a notorious narcotic smuggler and seized about 90 gm cannabis from his possession.
Under the guidance of SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal, a special team of cops led by SHO Kishtwar, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, assisted by PSI, Anil Kumar set up a checkpoint at Bus Stand area which was supervised by Dy.SP Hqrs, Dr. Ishan Gupta.
During checking of vehicle and pedestrian, cops noticed suspicious behavior of a man who was trying to evade the checkpoint but cops arrested him and recovered cannabis weighing about 90 gm from him and he was arrested.
The arrested person was identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Mehraj-Ud-Din, residing in Upar Banjwar, Kishtwar.
A case in FIR number 215/2023 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Kishtwar in this regard and investigation was underway.
SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal has urged the general public to come forward with information related to narcotic consumption/trafficking in their neighborhood to help police.
