Nari Shakti Manch organises programme on ‘Role of women in Democracy’

UDHAMPUR, March 11: In continuation with the lecture series under the banner of Nari Shakti Manch, Jammu and Kashmir, a programme was organized here today on the topic ‘Role of women in Democracy’.
Dr Sindhu Kapoor Sahi was the main resource person on the occasion. In her address, she presented a detailed account of position of women in historical perspective besides highlighting their indispensable role in India’s freedom struggle. She impressed upon the minds present there to respect the concept of equity and thus respect others’ contribution in the nation building activities.
“In democracy women have to play pivotal role in the areas of decision making, besides taking keen interest in socio -economic and political arenas,” she stressed.
Earlier, the theme was ably introduced by Pooja Mahajan. Kusum recited her self- composed poem on the “Women” and her array of roles in the present scenario. The welcome address was presented by Renu Sharma.
Prominent among those who attended the programme, included Anil Paba, Ashwani Gupta, Rajender, Dr Sushma Rani and Dr Annu Kotwal. The proceedings of the function were conducted by Garima. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Rohnika Gupta.
