Nathatop, Sanasar receive fresh spell of snowfall, temp dips in Jammu

JAMMU: Temperature dipped by few degrees after spell of rains hit the plains of Jammu while tourist spots Nathatop and Sanasar received fresh snowfall in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

A weatherman here on Monday said that due to heavy rain across J&K and snowfall on the higher reaches, there is significant drop in temperature while Mughal road and Srinagar-Leh highway have been closed due to fresh snowfall.

Official sources said that Mughal road remained closed for the third successive day due to snowfall. A MeT spokesman said that due to Western Disturbances, the weather has been affected in Jammu and Kashmir for the last two days.

However, weather improved from Monday afternoon. Jammu recorded a sharp fall of nearly 8 to 9 degrees Celsius of temperature with the rain and snowfall across the region.  Woollens were finally out in view of cold wave which has engulfed the region.
