NAGROTA, Nov 26: Asserting that the National Conference won’t compromise with national and Jammu interest, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that those trying to create suspicions among the people are destined to fail.
“National Conference does not believe in politics of deception and betrayal is not in its DNA”, Rana said in a veiled reference to the BJP while addressing a series of meetings at Chapad Sandrote, Janakha, Sukethar, Megh Mohalla (Janakha), Nandani and Tada Panchayats as part of campaigning in District Development Council polls.
Shameem Begum is the National Conference nominee from Dansal, a reserved constituency for woman Schedule Tribe candidates.
Rana referred to the historic decision of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah for acceding to this great nation and largest democracy of the world as he believed in the idea of India. The idea of India, he elaborated, encompasses equality, justice and the spirit of inclusiveness.
“It is because of the conscious decision of the people of this part of the country under the visionary leadership of Sheikh Abdullah that Jammu and Kashmir is enjoying the unique distinction of being jewel in the crown of the country”, Rana said, adding that those creating suspicion and mistrust are actually hiding behind their betrayals which they have inflicted upon Jammu, which gave them the massive mandate in 2014. He questioned the BJP’s sincerity towards Jammu, asking it owes to the people as to what it has done for the region after comforting itself in the cradle of power and thereafter being in power at the Centre, which is directly ruling J&K.
He asked the BJP to explain why it failed in keeping up the promises made to the people and failing the region on all fronts. Not only in jobs to the educated unemployed, it brought the engine of development to grinding halt thus pushing Jammu to the wall, he said while referring to the developmental inertia of over three years. BJP’s governance deficit was even acknowledged by the then national president, which is reflective of its betrayal to the core constituency.
Rana cautioned the BJP against whipping up passions on communal lines, saying that it must first introspect and then sit on judgement about others. He said the divisive politics is dangerous for the diverse Jammu and Kashmir, which is known for its inclusive character the world over. The people, he said, have seen through the divisive game-plan and won’t therefore oblige the hate mongers this time around. He said the BJP stands exposed for its anti-poor and anti-youth policies and these are the segments which are going to punish the party in the upcoming elections for ditching Jammu interest.
