KATRA, Feb 29: A national art workshop was organised at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University at the campus in which senior artists from different parts of the country participated.
This two- day art camp was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of the University Dr S K Jain on Sunday. It was organised by Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Trust in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University on February 28 -29. Today was the concluding function which was also presided over by the Vice Chancellor.
During this camp about 200 students of this reputed University at the foothills of Mata Vaishnodevi shrine, got a unique first hand opportunity to learn art skills as the senior artists demonstrated their work and shared various aspects of realistic and contemporary art.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Trust and its chairperson, Anuradha Rishi, a noted artist and daughter of Late Master Sansar Chand Baru, son of the soil and an artist of national fame. He said that students of the Varsity had first hand such experience and organizing such more camps will help them in sharpening their skills in the field of art.
Ms Rishi in her address said that this State is a warehouse of talent and all we need is to groom this talent by creating more such platforms and exchange programmes. She said that this trust has been organizing national level art camps and workshops across the country including children from the schools and even from the under-privileged background to participate and learn from artists from across the country, to raise their morale.
