Srinagar, July 9: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah while expressing grief and sorrow over the demise of Party leader Ghulam Nabi Mir of Pampore, said National Conference was a repository of sacrifices that have been rendered to safeguard the honor of the State and its people. Paying glowing tributes to Late Ghulam Nabi Mir, the National Conference Working President said the party’s strength at the grassroots level was due to the selfless struggles of leaders and activists like Mir who served the party with remarkable sincerity and dedication.
Omar Abdullah visited the residence of the Late NC Leader at Pampore, who passed away on Wednesday after a brief period of illness. Late Ghulam Nabi Mir had contested as the National Conference candidate in the Assembly elections in 2008. He was presently the Block President Pampore for National Conference. Mr. Omar Abdullah spent time with the family of Late Mir and highlighted his contribution to the party at crucial junctures and said in his selfless service to the party we could draw inspiration to fight the battle for the honor and dignity of the State and its people in present circumstances where political parties and leaders had back-tracked on their ideologies and promises for the petty trappings of power.
“National Conference has a proud legacy of people like Mir Sahib and our cadre and youth activists today continue to emulate the hard-work and commitment of their predecessors in their efforts to make the party stronger at the grassroots level. Mir Sahib never wavered in his commitment to our political movement that has been fought for the rights of our people. I pray for peace to the departed soul and am certain Mir Sahib’s family and his associates will carry forward his good work with equal zeal and sincerity. In Mir Sahib’s demise the party has lost a trusted leader and voice and has created a vacuum that will be hard to fill”. Omar Abdullah said.
