National Legal Services Day celebrated across State

JAMMU, Nov 9: National Legal Services Day was celebrated across the State.
District Legal Services Authority, Jammu organized a function to mark the National Legal Services Day at Jammu District Court Complex. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Jammu and Principal District and Sessions Judge Sanjay Gupta said that the programme was held to provide free legal aid to the people belonging to weaker sections of the society. A Lok Adalat was also organised on the occasion in which two benches were constituted and out of 106 cases, 41 cases were settled and a fine of Rs 36,695 was collected. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu Sunit Gupta, Additional Mobile Magistrate, Traffic, Jammu Naveen Jamwal, Third Additional Munsiff, Jammu Pooja Raina, Master Trainer in Legal Aid Services for Jammu and Kashmir, Jyoti Sharma, Sub-Registrar (Secretary) District Legal Services Authority, Jammu, Advocate Rameshwar Singh Jamwal, law students, lawyers and litigators were present during the function.
District Legal Services Authority and Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Srinagar organised Legal Awareness programme today at Free Legal Aid Clinic DC office Srinagar in connection with National Legal Services Day under the Chairmanship of Masrat Shaheen, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chairperson Tehsil Legal Services Committee Srinagar. All retainer lawyers, remand lawyers and para-legal volunteers of District Srinagar besides a large number of people were present in the awareness programme. Masrat Shaheen, CJM Srinagar and Raheela Tabasum, Legal Assistant of District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar and other Lawyers highlighted Legal Services Schemes and urged general public to avail the benefits of the said programme.
National Lok Adalat was held at Munsiff JMIC Court Complex, RS Pura. Parvaiz Iqbal, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, RS Pura and Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, RS Pura presided over the bench. During the course of deliberation, 32 cases pertaining to compoundable criminal/civil cases were listed before the Lok Adalat. Out of this, 19 were disposed off. Fine amounting to Rs 10,900 was realized during the proceedings of the Lok Adalat.
National Legal Services Day was observed at District Court Complex, Rajouri, A detailed programme to highlight the legal services day was held under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Rajouri Inder Singh, in which Additional District and Sessions Judge Khalil Ahmed Choudhary, Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajouri Mehmood Choudhary, Sub Judge/ Spl Mobile Rajouri, Sunil Sangra, Munsiff District Judicial Mobile Magistrate Rajouri Sarfraz Nawaz, President Bar Liyaqat Choudhary, besides many others took part. The speakers stressed on the importance of the day. Similar functions were also held at all Tehsil Headquarters of the District Rajouri.
Legal Services Authority, Surankote, Poonch celebrated National Legal Services Day in the Court premises. Large number of people from different walks of life participated in the function.   Tahir Khurshid Raina, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Poonch and Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch was the chief guest on the occasion, while SSP Poonch JS Johar was the guest of honour. Pardeep Sandhu, Sub Judge Surankote and Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Authority Surankote presented welcome address. SSP Poonch JS Johar, Advocate Majid, Advocate Iqbal Malik, Sarfaz Ahmed Khan, President Bar Association Surankote and Nazeer Qureshi a prominent citizen of the area expressed their views highlighting the importance of the day. Tabraiz Qazi Munsiff/Magistrate Surankote conducted the proceedings of the function.
To celebrate National Legal Service Authority Day, a function was organized under the chairmanship of Sanjay Dhar, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua, which was attended by Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Suresh Chander Karat, Additional District Judge, Kathua, Deepak Sethi, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Naushad Ahmed Khan, Special Mobile Magistrate, Kathua. The speakers threw light on the importance of the day. Sanjay Dhar, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua while speaking stressed upon the need to make the people aware about their legal rights and ways to get it implemented, in the courts/as well as educate the people to get the benefits arising out of various Government policies and schemes.
District Legal Services Authority Reasi under the chairmanship of KS Parihar, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority and Principal, District and Sessions Judge Reasi celebrated National Legal Services Day in District Court Complex Reasi. On the occasion a Legal Awareness Camp and a Lok Adalat was held. The camp was attended by KS Parihar, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kamlesh Pandita Sub-Judge/Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Reasi, Anjana Rajput, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Reasi, Jyoti Bhagat Munsiff JMIC Reasi, President Bar alongwith Bar members, Retainer Lawyers Para Legal Volunteers and a large number of respectable persons. Speaking on the occasion, KS Parihar threw light on Right to Education Act and economically backward quota in public schools, Mental Health Act and NALSA scheme. He appealed to the people to come forward and avail maximum benefit of such schemes.
National Legal Services Day was celebrated in the District Court Complex Samba under the chairmanship of ML Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority. While speaking, ML Manhas made the general masses aware about the aspect of Legal Services Authority. Ritesh K Dubey, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Authority, Manzoor Hussain, Munsiff Samba, SK Khanmotra and Nisha Rani, Advocates, Faizal Qureshi, Additional SP Samba, Verinder Singh Katal, DySP Headquarters, Rajinder Singh, Naib Tehsildar, besides many others were present on the occasion. A Lok Adalat was also organized on the occasion in which 36 cases of different nature were settled.
To celebrate the National Legal Services Day, a Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority Kishtwar under the chairmanship of MS Parihar, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kishtwar at District Court Complex Kishtwar. A bench consisting of Balbir Lal Jaswal, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar and MH Waza Advocate conducted the Lok Adalat. A total of 134 cases were referred to Lok Adalat, out of which 100 cases were amicably settled and compensation of Rs 1,90,000 was awarded to the claimant and fine of Rs 7000 was realized on the spot. Bajaj General Insurance Company through IJ Charak Advocate handed over 8 cheques of Rs 60,75,000 to the Chairman District Legal Services Authority as compensation in MACT cases.
To commemorate National Legal Services Day, a legal awareness camp on the legal rights was organized at Panchayat Ghar Khoon in Majalta tehsil under the chairmanship of Touseef Ahmed Magray, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Majalta. Speaking on the occasion, Magray said that the main focus of observing such event was to make aware and to emphasize on Article 39 (A) of Indian Constitution which ensures that the State should promote justice on a basis of equal opportunity. He also threw light on ADR system, Lok Adalats, pre-litigations, legal aid clinics and different schemes launched by NALSA and SLSA for the benefit of the people.  He appealed the people to come forward and avail maximum benefit of such schemes. Retainer lawyer Advocate Amit Sharma, Sarpanch Khoon Ramesh Gupta and Sarpanch Plano Chain Singh, panchs and large number of people were present on the occasion.
National Legal Service Day was celebrated toady in the court complex of Munsiff Court Nubra under the chairmanship of Chairman Tehsil Legal Service Authority Nubra Phuntsog Angmo. Speaking on the occasion, Phuntsog Angmo talked about the importance of the day in perspective of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India. Advocate Mohammad Nazir, and Incharge SHO Nubra and a large gathering were also present on the occasion. A Lok Adalat was also organized in the Munsiff Court Complex Nubra and a bench comprising of Munsiff Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Nubra and Advocate Mohd Nazir was constituted. One criminal compoundable case under section 279, 337 RPC and 54 traffic challans were disposed of by the bench and a total fine of Rs 4,100 was imposed on defaulters.
Pursuant to the directions of Executive Chairman, NALSA Justice TS Thakur, Judge Supreme Court of India followed by guidelines/instructions from Executive Chairman, J&K SLSA, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge High Court of J&K, a National Legal Services Day was organized in District Kulgam headed by Zubair Ahmad Raza Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kulgam in collaboration with Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kulgam Riyaz-ul-Haq Mirza.
In connection with the Legal Services day, a programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority, Budgam under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Budgam Mohammed Ibrahim Wani. In this Programme, all the Judicial Officers at the Headquarter, Masarat Roohie, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Budgam, Som Lal, Special Mobile Magistrate, Budgam and Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, Budgam and members of the Bar Association participated. People from different walks of life also participated in this programme. The speakers threw light on the various aspects of the Legal Services Authority Act and Rules.
