KATRA, Sept 17: J&K Bank sponsored two-day National Level Management Development Program on “Strengthening Lending Decisions to MSMEs” was inaugurated today at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
Organized by School of Business, SMVD University, the program aims to equip participants with necessary skills, perspective and strategies to enable them to build a sustainable and healthy MSME credit portfolio. The program witnessed participation of officers from various banks like Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, HDFC Bank Ltd., Axis Bank Ltd., Bank of Maharashtra etc.
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor, SoB and Program Coordinator briefed the participants about the program. Guest of honour of the program, Arvind Gupta, Vice President, J&K Bank Ltd. enumerated the role of MSME sector in nation development and the opportunities they offer to the banking sector. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Former, Executive Director, Canara Bank and key note speaker for inaugural session outlined the key challenges and contemporary issues facing the banking sector in India. He called upon the bankers as ‘trustees of public funds’ and highlighted the need to encourage SMEs to meet the aspirations of the country.
Spread through two days, September 17-18, 2016, the program shall witness sessions from eminent resource persons. Ashok Kumar Gupta is having a session on lending tactics, pre-sanction and post sanction due diligence and mentoring and monitoring of MSMEs, Jayant Keskar, Deputy General Manager, IDBI Bank Ltd. Mumbai, will deliberate on trade finance. Dr Ashutosh Vashistha, Associate Professor, SoB will discuss the linkage between the Bank’s capital adequacy and permissible lending, and Dr Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor, School of Business, will have session on understanding and scrutinizing the projections of MSMEs.
