JAMMU, May 19: Two- day training program on ‘Crafting Individuals as Effective Leaders’ for Indian Forest Service Officers, was inaugurated today by Dr Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
The program has participation from different parts of the country including Orrisa, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Uttrakhand, Delhi, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, etc.
In his inaugural address, Dr Jain highlighted the importance of this type of training programs as a source of valid and reliable leadership traits. He emphasized that the image of a leader drives people to do a said job and hones the ability of leader to do dynamic jobs as an original thinker and develops a contemporary image as a leader. He also highlighted the importance of social media and said that any leadership message today can spread within no time. He termed social media as an ocean and asked leaders to use these instruments in constructive directions. He urged leaders to use 360 degree span to develop a culture of learning for implementing Government policies.
During the two days training sessions on different topics including communications strategies for effective leadership, rational decision making process and leadership styles, motivating and influencing people, conflict management would be conducted by resource persons from different reputed institutes including FORE Business School, New Delhi, Universal Business School, Mumbai, apart from experts/academicians from School of Business, SMVDU.
Earlier, Dr Jyoti Sharma, Head, School of Business, while addressing the participants, highlighted the importance of effective leadership for the society and termed them as agents of change and said that leadership quality can be developed through formal training like this to enhance effective communication skills, rational thinking, constructive attitude, etc. Prof V K Bhatt, Dean, Faculty of Management presented formal welcome address.
