National Lok Adalats held across State

JAMMU, Sept 14: National Lok Adalats were held across the State.
J&K High Court Legal Services Committee under the patronage of Justice Geeta Mittal, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K (Patron-in-Chief, J&K State Legal Services Authority) and guidance of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, High Court of J&K (Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority), and special guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge, High Court of J&K (Chairman J&K High Court Legal Services Committee) organized National Lok Adalat at both the wings of the High Court Jammu and Srinagar. In Jammu and Srinagar Wings of the High Court, 2 benches were constituted respectively. A total of 12 MACT cases were settled and Rs 1,04,90,697 was awarded as compensation. 2 pre-litigation cases were also settled.
RAMBAN: National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Session Judge, Ramban, Kishore Kumar who is also the Chairman District Legal Service Authority, in the District Court Complex here. Four Benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench was presided over by Chairman District Legal Service Authority, Ramban, Kishore Kumar who was assisted by Secretary District Legal Service Authority (Sub Judge) Ramban, Amit Sharma and the 2nd bench was presided over by Chairman Tehsil Legal Service Committee (CJM) Ramban, Pardeep Kumar Sandhu who was assisted by Munsiff JMIC Ramban, Junaid Imtiyaz. The third bench was presided over by Sub Judge Batote, Madan Lal, who was assisted by Advocate PB Katoch and the 4th bench was presided over by Munsiff JMIC Gool, Sarfaraz Nawaz who was assisted by Tehsildar Gool. A total of 327 cases of different nature were taken up out of which 251 cases were amicably settled. An awarded of Rs 49, 25,000 was passed in MACT cases and an amount of Rs 2,12,950 as compoundable fine has been recovered in the National Lok Adalat.
UDHAMPUR: National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority at District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur ML Manhas. Eight benches were constituted across the district to conduct National Lok Adalats. The first bench comprised of ML Manhas Principal District and Sessions Judge, Vijay Luxmi Retainer Lawyer DLSA and Shallu Khajuria Advocate, the second bench comprised of Soba Ram Gandhi Additional District and Sessions Judge Udhampur, BB Sharma, Advocate and Kiran Kumar Chauhan Advocate, the third bench comprised of Mohammd Rafiq Chak, CJM Udhampur, Sanjeet Kumar Advocate and Pankaj Dubey Advocate, the fourth bench comprised of Sandeep Kour, Secretary DLSA Sub Judge Udhampur, JD Slathia, President Bar Association Udhampur and Pawan Gupta, Advocate, the fifth bench comprised of Ajay Kumar, District Mobile Magistrate Traffic Udhampur, Kamya Singh Munsiff JMIC Udhampur and Pankaj Magotra Retainer Lawyer TLSC, the sixth bench comprised of Archana Charak, Sub Judge Ramnagar and KD Sharma, Advocate, the seventh bench comprised of Priyanka Mahajan, Munsiff JMIC Majalta and Karnail Singh Naib Tehsildar and the eighth bench comprised of Amandeep Kour Munsiff JMIC Chenani, Tariq Mughal Advocate and Balwan Singh Advocate. A total of 315 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 177 cases were settled. An amount of Rs 67,95,000 was realized in MACT cases while a total of Rs 6,94,799 was settled in various bank cases and Rs 93,40,000 in 138 NI Act cases. Besides, fine amounting Rs 52,600 was realized in respect of various criminal compoundable cases and an amount of Rs 26,25,723 was settled in electricity bills.
SAMBA: National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court complex here under the chairmanship of MK Sharma, Chairman DLSA (Principal District and Sessions Judge). Four benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench was headed by MK Sharma, Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba and assisted by SK Khanmotra Advocate, while the second bench was headed by Ajay Gupta, CJM Samba and assisted by Jyoti Bhagat, Additional Munsiff Samba, the third bench was headed by Swati Gupta, Secretary DLSA Samba and assisted by Ankita Sambyal Advocate and the fourth bench was headed by Pooja Raina Munsiff Samba. A total of 472 cases were taken up out of which 363 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 53,35,543 was settled.
RAJOURI: National Lok Adalat was held in District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge. Four benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench was headed by Shahzad Azeem, Principal District and Sessions Judge and assisted by KM Bhat Advocate, the second bench was headed by OP Thakur, CJM Rajouri and assisted by Vivek Gupta Advocate, the third was headed by Meyank Thakur, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate Rajouri and assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary Advocate and the fourth bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and assisted by Nissar Hussain Choudhary Advocate. A total of 1119 cases were taken up out of which 886 cases were disposed off. An amount of Rs 63,35,300 was settled. 20 MACT cases were also taken up and 16 cases were decided and an amount of Rs 58,80,000 was awarded as compensation.
POONCH: A National Lok Adalat was organized here. Chairman DLSA Poonch Madan Lal (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Poonch highlighted the positive aspects of Lok Adalat and described it as the need of the hour and stressed upon general public to come forward to take benefit of these Lok Adalat. At District HQ, two benches were constituted. First bench was presided over by Madan Lal Chairman DLSA and assisted by Javed Rana Secretary DLSA, DMM (T) Poonch, while the second bench was presided over by Som Lal CJM (Chairman TLSC Poonch) and assisted by Advocate Mohammad Ishaq Khan. At Mendhar, the bench was presided over by Raj Kumar Chairman TLSC Mendhar and was assisted by Naib Tehsildar Mendhar. A total of 213 cases were taken up, out of which 210 cases were settled. 4 MACT cases were settled, 29 criminal cases and 7civil cases were also decided and Rs 37,06,800 was the settling amount.
SRINAGAR: National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court complex here under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar Abdul Rashid Malik. During the Lok Adalat, nine benches were constituted. 2855 cases were taken in the Lok Adalat out of which 2541 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 6,29,550 was settled as fine/compensation/ recovery.
KULGAM: National Lok- Adalat was held in District Court complex here under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Kulgam. Three benches were constituted—one at headquarter and one each at Qazigund and DH Pora which were headed by judicial officers and staff members. In this National Lok Adalat, 53 cases related to family dispute, criminal RPC challans and traffic challans were taken up out of which 20 cases were amicably settled. An award of Rs 3900 was released in National Lok Adalat.
LEH: National Lok Adalat was held in District Court complex here under the chairmanship of RS Jasrotia, Principal District and Sessions Judge (Chairman DLSA). Two benches were constituted on the occasion. The first bench was headed by RS Jasrotia, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Bashir Munshi CJM Leh, while the second bench was headed by Munsiff Chemit Yurgyal and Mohammad Shafi, President Bar Association Leh. A total of 195 cases were taken up, out of which 189 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 14,65,600 was awarded as compensation/ settlement amount in civil, criminal, MV Act, Matrimonial and Municipal cases.
