National meet of research scholars underway at Deptt of Statistics

JAMMU, Dec 10: The second and third day of the research scholars meet at Department of Statistics were quiet fruitful in terms of academic and research content with overwhelming response from the young participants from across the country, pursuing PhD in the field of Mathematical sciences.
Lectures on techniques to write good research papers, and what a referee looks in a research paper, particularly, in Mathematics and Statistics were delivered by Prof D C Nath of Gauhati University and Prof S Ravichandran of Delhi University in two consecutive sessions.
Prof B V Rao of CMI, Chennai in a brainstorming session spoke about the state of art of mathematical research followed by an inspiring talk on functional analytic view of certain phenomenon in classical research analysis by Prof M A Sofi, a renowned mathematician of Kashmir University.
Many participating researchers made oral presentations of their research work in the post lunch sessions which were judged by Dr Pawan Kumar, Dr Parmil Kumar and Dr V K Shivgotra for shortlisting some of them for the competition of Best Paper presentation award competition to be held on December 12
