JAMMU, Mar 4: With its continuous focus on Industry specific development and practical exposure, SGT University, Gurgaon, in association with Indian National Bar Association (INBA), New Delhi, is organizing India’s first paperless Environmental Law Moot Court Competition for its students.
The competition was started today and will last till March 6. The competition is perhaps one and only of its kind in the Country as going by its theme – “Complete Paperless Environmental Law Moot Court Competition”. The proceedings and marking during this competition is also paperless and the moot proposition for this competition is based on Environmental and Constitutional Law.
The principal objective of the competition is to develop an increased awareness and interest in Environment Law in academic institutions throughout Indian sub-continent. Another objective is to use Environment Law to further academic excellence in the student community, and to develop their advocacy skills in an environment of friendly competition.
This competition was not only an initiative to save the environment but it is also a step for the achievement of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, as this moot competition addresses the issue of climate change and talks about the urgent steps needed to tackle the adverse climate conditions.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include Justice Uday U Lalit (Judge, Supreme Court of India), Vijay Sampla (Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India), PK Malhotra, Secretary, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India and Clara Tonnesmann, Attorney-at-law, Janert Rechtsanwalte, Germany.
In the process of fulfilling its commitment and vision to disseminate knowledge in diverse disciplines and develop its students holistically, SGT University Gurgaon has emerged as top 10 Business school in the country being ranked at 6th in latest Times of India B- School Survey and overall rank of 7th as Private Engineering Institute in India by Times of India.
