JAMMU, Dec 12: A four days’ National Painters’ Camp organized by Directorate of Tourism, Jammu (J&K) in collaboration with J&K Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) was culminated, here today.
On the concluding day artist Jang S. Verman was the chief guest.
According to O P Sharma, Director JKCCA, the camp has been a grand success.
He appreciated the step taken by Directorate of Tourism and Sunaina Sharma, Joint Director, Tourism Department, Jammu to promote art & culture in the region and hoped that the artists from different areas of the country will prove to be the messengers in promoting tourism through such art events.
He said, “JKCCA is working with other organizations and departments to find out the possibilities to explore art & culture, particularly of the Jammu region. We have organized hundreds of art exhibitions, camps and sixteen international art exhibitions.”
Speaking on this occasion, Jang S. Verman said, “It’s a nice initiative by Directorate of Tourism and JKCCA to promote art as well tourism through art and culture activity.”
He appreciated the participating artists for creating quality paintings.
Among others who attended the camp included Ashok Mehra, Virji Virender Sumbly, K S Gill, Dharminder Sharma, Amritsar (Punjab), Dr. A K Dixit (New Delhi), Mohd. Moin (Dehradun), Pratima Singh (Lucknow), Dr. Saroj Rani, (Varanasi), Yaswant Patel and Valabh Vidyanagar (Gujrat).
