Jammu, Feb 14: A valedictory function of National Road safety Month-2024 was organized by Motor Vehicles Department in association with All J&K Transporters Welfare Association, Jammu.
Transport Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara, Paramveer Singh, Additional Secretary, Road Safety Council, J&K, Pankaj Bhagotra, RTO Jammu, S. Ajit Singh, Chairman, All J&K Transport Welfare Association were present on the occasion.
Besides Rehana Tabassum, ARTO (Hadquarters), Esha Chib, ARTO Board of Inspection (Goods), Kuldeep Singh, ARTO, Board of Inspection (Passengers), Neeraj Sharma, ARTO Flying Squad, Teams from Red Cross and Health Department, Jammu and others heads of all Transport Associations (Truck/Bus/Mini Bus) were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the huge gathering, Transport Commissioner requested all the participants/ drivers and conductors to adhere the road safety rules. He said that the main purpose/main objective behind observing countrywide National Road Safety Month by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is to give mass awareness about safety and security of road users and to minimize the numbers of death and injuries caused due to various road accidents happening across U.T of Jammu and Kashmir and whole Country.
Transport Commissioner also congratulated the whole team of Motor Vehicles Department and Transport Associations for their efforts for holding maximum awareness/ events not only in the Road Safety Month but also in the whole year.
RTO Jammu also while addressing the gathering impressed upon all the transporters, vehicle owners, drivers, conductors, travelers and road users to strictly follow road safety and traffic rules and also said that the only way to decrease the number of the road accidents is adherence to traffic laws.
S. Ajit Singh, Chairman, All J&K Transport Welfare Association also spoke on the occasion and emphasized upon all the connected persons to strictly follow the rules so that safety of passengers can be ensured.
Rehana Tabassum, Esha Chib, Kuldeep Singh, ARTOs also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the Motor Vehicles Department in different fields and initiatives of Government of India. Earlier a pledge on road safety was also administered on the occasion.
On the occasion, Medical Health Check-up camp was also organized in association with Health Department.
The Regional Transport Officer presented welcome address and formally welcomed all the participants and transport associations, while the vote of Thanks was presented by ARTO, (Headquarters).
