KATRA, Feb 27: A three day National Science Seminar on the theme “Extensive applications of nuclear technology for welfare and public awareness”, organized jointly by School of Physics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra and Hindi Vigyan Sahitya Parishad (HVSP), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai concluded today.
Prof. S K Jain, VC, SMVDU was the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony. He emphasized that for the proper use of nuclear energy and technology, it is very important that scientists, academicians, researchers, students and all of society should be properly educated and informed.
About 16 special talks on various topics like nuclear energy and its multiple uses, desalination and water purification, radiation technology, food security and its safety, nanomaterials and its use in drug delivery, accelerator and its applications, waste management etc were presented in the three days seminar. The seminar was attended by a galaxy of scientists, faculty and students.
Beside dedicated subject related talk sessions, other activities like poster session and an educational skit on the theme ElectricitykiduniyakaCEO(Clean Energy Option) was presented by the students of SMVDU. A quiz competition was also organized in which Deepak Jha and Karan Sapolia of B.Tech (CSE) emerged winners and were facilitated with gold medal and certificates.
Prof. Jain said that such seminars will act as channel for creating an atmosphere which will encourages and inspire students and young researcher for their over all academic growth.
Others present on the occasion were Dr. PB Bhagvat (Vice-chairman HVSP), Kavindra Pathak, Secretary, HVSP, S. R K Mishra, organizer National Science seminar, Dr. Yugal Khajuria, Dean of Student SMVDU and Dr. Jitendra Sharma, School of Physics & Convener National science seminar.
An Eminent scientist at BARC, Dr. S. K. Malhotra, summarized the event and presented the vote of thanks.
