The appointment of Chief of Defence Staff CDS was a long pending demand of the security forces. The demand for CDS had been raised after Kargil near to overcome same of the problems Indian security forces faced. Indian defence forces have time and again raised their problem before the concerned authorities in this regard, but these have not been redressed to their satisfaction. With CDS in office, it is expected that the defense forces see a new transformation which may be in the interest of the nation.
The appointment has come at a time when the country is facing external threat from our two hostile neighbours-China and Pakistan. To meet this threat, it is necessary that all the three wings of forces are battle ready. And to ensure that it is necessary that there is required synergy between these three wings; and to bring this synergy we expect the CDS’ post was a necessary creation.
