JAMMU, Nov 19: Two day national seminar on “Dogri Lok Sahitya– Samkaleen Samikarn”, organized by the PG Department of Dogri, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, concluded today.
Prof. Jigar Mohd., Dean Research Studies, JU, was the chief guest at the valedictory session. He stressed on the importance of relationship between folk literature and history.
Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, HoD Dogri, said that the seminar will provide various themes and openings to the writers and researchers of Dogri who wish to pursue study of Dogri folk literature in future.
Dr. Nirmal Vinod, a noted writer of Dogri, presented detailed proceedings of two day seminar covering all salient features of the programme.
Prof. Lalit Magotra, Convener, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi while presenting vote of thanks, emphasized that the time was ripe for studying collected and collated folk literature in light of certain basic social and human values
Earlier, paper reading session was held in the morning, during which, three papers were presented by Dr Padam Dev Singh, Jagdeep Dubey and Dr Chanchal Bhasin on the topics “Dogri Lok-Geeten Ch Jaatigat Samikaran”, “Dogri Lok-Kathen Ch Jaatigat Samikaran and “Dogri Lok-Gathaen Ch Jaatigat Samikaran” respectively and Sh. Prakash Premi was the discussant. Prof. Archana Kesar in her presidential speech appreciated all the papers and complimented paper writers for the hard work they have put in writing their papers.
In the fourth and final paper reading session, three papers were read, one by Sunita Bhadwal on the topic “Dogri Lok-Sahitya Cch Dhaarmik Charit/Pauranik Charit, 2nd paper by Brahm Dutt on the topic “Dogri Lok-Sahitya Ch Veer Charit”, the 3rd paper by Dr Rajni Bala on the topic “Soochana Pradyogiki Te Lok-Sahitya” and Pritam Katoch was the discussant.
On this occasion, trophies to winner of slogan writing contest, held in the department on November 11, 2016 were given. Chanki Bens, Naresh Kumar, Ashu Sharma stood at 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively while consolation prizes were given to Kajal Kumari and Ekta.
