JAMMU, Apr 7: Jammu Agriculture Department and Shri Kailak Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust today conducted a day-long national seminar on the benefits of astrology-based agriculture here today.
On the occasion, former minister and J&K BJP Vice President Sham Lal Sharma, Agriculture Director Jammu KK Sharma, Jammu Kashmir Bank Chairman Subhash Chhibber, Senior advocate and J&K BJP Spokesperson, Abhinav Sharma and President of Shri Kailak Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, Mahant Rohit Shastri graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma said that at present agriculture work is not only a means of earning livelihood but it is also proving to be a good business. “If nature supports the farmers, then a lot of money can be earned from this work too. Many types of diseases and natural outbreaks spoil the hopes of the farmers. The crop burns on sight,” he said, adding “Where there was an expectation of a quintal of grain, one has to be satisfied with a few kilograms of grain. In such a situation, if Indian astrology is coordinated along with scientific methods in the fields, then they can get a lot of benefits.”
Senior Advocate Abhinav Sharma said that the development of astrology started in ancient times for the purpose of counting. At that time people used to wait for the rain for agriculture on the basis of time count. The word year is derived from rain. At that time, the basis of time calculation was mainly the Sun and the Moon. On the basis of them the calculations of day-night, paksha, month, season, Ayan and year were done. In the Vedic period, for calculating the auspicious time for Yagya etc., the time calculation was done on astrological basis.
Subhash Chhibber, Agriculture Director KK Sharma and Mahant Rohit Shastri also expressed their views.
At the end of the program, the Jammu Province Agricultural Employees Association honored Mahant Rohit Shastri for promoting Sanskrit language in the state.
On the occasion, Professor Sharad Sharma, Dr Suman Kumar Pant, Dr. Rajiv Dixit, Prabod Sharma, Seema Segal, Rakesh Gandotra, Pawan Khajuria, Shekhar Sharma, Rajeshwar Singh Raju, Uttam Sharma and many others were present.
