National seminar on Concept of Social Exclusion commences at JU

JAMMU, Mar 26: A three -day national seminar on the topic “Concept of Social Exclusion and Inclusion in Indian History” being organised by the Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy was inaugurated here this afternoon at the University of Jammu.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Prof JR Panda, renowned Sociologist touched upon the various aspects of caste politics in India, especially the reservation.
In his keynote address, Prof Paramjeet Singh Judge, Senior Prof of Sociology, Guru Nanak Dev University outlined various movements that affected the social exclusion.
He also gave an overview of the constitutional history of India and how the society being dynamic tackled the questions of social groupings. He also narrated anecdotes from historical personalities to explain his arguments.
The first academic session of the seminar was presided over by Prof Dipankar Sen Gupta. In this session, three papers were presented and the presenters were Prof Falendra K Sudan, Sheetal Verma, and Syed Mohd. Shahid.
Earlier Prof Jigar Mohammad delivered the welcome address and in the end formal vote of thanks was presented by Ranjeet Kalra, Asstt Director, Academic Staff College.
The overall proceedings of the inaugural session of the seminar were managed by Ainee Ambreen, PhD Scholar (JRF) of the Department of History.
Among others present included Prof Dalip Singh Jamwal, president JUTA, Prof B Labh, Prof Sangeeta Gupta, Prof Abha Chauhan, Head Department of Sociology, Prof Rajinder Gupta, Director, ASC, Prof Suman Jamwal, Dr Falendra Sudan, Prof Sham Narayan, Dr Anupama Vohra, Dr Anjuman, Dr Muneer Alam, scholars and students.
