JAMMU, Mar 30: The Department of Hindi, University of Jammu and Kendriya Hindi Sansathan, Agra organized two-day national seminar, on the theme ‘Contemporary Discourses and Hindi Literature’. The seminar was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Ishar appreciated Department of Hindi for organising such type of seminars in which large number of scholars would be benefited. He said there were issues which should be discussed in present scenario not pointing towards future.
Key note address was delivered by Prof. Lal Chand Gupta from Kurukshetra University. Prof. Om Awasthi from Dharamshala (HP) was the chief guest. Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, Head Department of Hindi deliberated upon the importance of seminar’s subject. Prof. Neelam Saraf presented vote of thanks.
Second session was on the topic women discourse in literature. This session was chaired by Prof. Neelam Saraf and Prof. Om Aawasthi. Three research papers were presented by Prof. K.N.Tiwari from Delhi University, Prof. Usha Lal from Haryana and Prof. Parvinder Kour from Jammu University. Various questions were asked by the scholars present in the seminar hall. Session was conducted by Dr. Rajni Bala.
In the second day of seminar there was heated discussion on the question whether writers who were born in Dalit families and experienced atrocities should be declared as Dalit writers or writers who showed sympathies through there creative work towards Dalits should also be made known as Dalit writers.
Prof. V.N Bhale Rao from Pune in his research paper taking side of writers from Dalit families presented history and pain experience by lower castes at the hands of upper castes. Dr. Sunil Kumar from G.N.D.U Amritsar and Dr. Rajni Bala expressed views opposite to Dr. Bhale Rao in this session. Both Dr. Rajni Bala and Dr. Sunil said it was necessary to combine both the views for development of Hindi Literature. Dr. Pran Nath Trisal also expressed same views.
Prof. Kailash Nath Tiwari who presided over the session, said there would be change in upper caste but it will be slow and will be take its own time. Dalit movement is being depicted as revolt but there is no thought of creation. The session was compered by Dr. Om Parkash Dwivedi and vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Parshotam.
In the second session the topic under discussion was ” Aadivasi Vimarsh’ Prof. Sukhvinder Bat from Patiala discussed problems of Aadivasi as decicted in Hindi poetry. In the context of fiction Dr. Anju Thapa opined that the problem faced by Aadivasi was a problem of water forest and land. Both the paper readers raised questions related to economic exploitation and sexual exploitation of Aadivasis” women. Prof. V.N. Bhale Rao, who was on chair threw light on the cultural aspects of Aadivasis.
The session compered by Dr. Parvinder Kour and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Parmeshwari Sharma HoD Hindi Department.
