National seminar on Higher Edu concludes at GDC Kathua

KATHUA, Dec 23: The National seminar on ‘Higher Education in J&K: Challenges and Perspectives’, organised by Department of Social Sciences, Government Degree College, Kathua, concluded here today. The camp was organised in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research North-Western Regional Centre, Punjab University, Chandigarh.
The second day of seminar witnessed a total of four technical sessions headed by Prof Amarjeet Singh, GNDU, Amritsar and Prof Mubarak Singh, Department of Education, University of Jammu.
In the Plenary session, Dr Rajnesh Kumar Sharma from Kurukshetra University delivered a lecture on importance of Higher Education in the States like J&K.
In the valedictory function, Charanjeet Singh, MLA Kathua constituency, was the chief guest while Prof Rekha Choudhary, Dean Research, University of Jammu (JU), also presided over the function.
Earlier, presenting the welcome address, Dr Nater Singh, threw light on various challenges and perspectives in the field of Higher Education in J&K.
Dr Sujata Slathia, convener of the event read the report pertaining to the proceedings of the two-day seminar.
Delivering valedictory remarks Prof Rekha Choudhary highlighted the need of maintaining quality over quantity in the Higher Education Institutions.
The seminar concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Ram Singh. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr Ram Krishan, principal, GDC, Hiranagar, Dr NK Gupta, principal, GDC, Bani, Prof Sucheta Pathania, Department of English, JU and Prof Renu Nanda, Department of Education, JU.
