JAMMU, May 27: A one-day National seminar on “Contribution of Rasa Javedani in the development of Urdu and Kashmiri language and literature” was organized today in Prof Gian Chand Jain Seminar Hall of the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu (JU).
The Seminar jointly organized by University of Jammu (JU), Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society, was presided over by noted Punjabi and Urdu writer Khalid Hussain.
In his presidential address Khalid Hussain spoke in detail on the life and Urdu poetry of Rasa Javedani describing him as an exceptional Urdu poet whose poetry gave a message of love, brotherhood and communal harmony.
Dr Shehnawaz Qadri highlighted the contribution of Rasa Javedani to Urdu literature, describing him as a towering Urdu poet who projected the realities of life and promoted national integration and communal harmony  through his work.
While highlighting the contribution of Rasa Javedani in the field of Kashmiri Literature, Brij Nath Betab described him as the second most important poet after Rasool Mir whose romantic poetry is liked by one and all.
Earlier, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik (HoD Urdu) spoke on the life and works of the Rasa Javedani.
Later, a Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Award was also presented to Bharat Singh (Secretary, JKAACL) in recognition of his contributions to the art and culture in the UT.
A musical event was also organized on the occasion in which reputed singers like Deepali Watal and Ravi Thakur entertained the audience by singing the famous Ghazals of Rasa Javedani.
