JAMMU, Jan 17: National Startup Day was celebrated with full fervour here on Tuesday.
As per a press statement, Director, JKEDI, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat inaugurated and presided over the celebration event.
It said that scores of aspiring entrepreneurs, students, start-ups, experts from the industry and academia participated in the daylong workshop.
In his address, Director, JKEDI, Ajaz Ahmed Bhat elaborated on the importance of National Startup Day.
“We’re celebrating this day, the success of start-ups and validating their innovative efforts,” he said, adding, “Startup India is a flagship initiative of the Government, intended to catalyze startup culture and build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship”.
He said that JKEDI emphasizes innovation and technology-based solutions to deal with the challenges of the society.
“Our institute has engaged the youth by organizing many hackathons and we have received many innovative solutions in the record time,” he further said.
He said that J&K Startup Policy was rolled out in 2018 and JKEDI has been designated as the nodal agency for the implementation of this policy.
Elaborating the features of the J&K Startup Policy, the JKEDI Director promised the participants that every comment would be evaluated and the institute would try to incorporate these suggestions into the policy.
“To give a fillip to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, JKEDI is coming up with programs and courses for school and college students. Full-time professional programs will also be offered by the institute in the times to come,” he said.
Experts from different sectors including Dr Anil Gupta from Jammu University, Prof Manoj Aggarwal from IIT, Jammu, G Velludurai, Joint Director Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) also spoke on the occasion and deliberated on the need of innovation to succeed in business.
