JAMMU, Jan 25: 10th National Voters Day was celebrated today with great enthusiasm across the Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
To mark the occasion, District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Jammu organized functions in various educational institutions including Government College for Women Parade and several Higher Secondary Schools, wherein retainer lawyers and para legal volunteers of District Legal Services Committee (DLSC) Jammu and Tehsil Legal services Committees (TLSCs) of Jammu made the students aware about their right to vote.
DLSA Leh organized a function in this connection at DIET Skill Training Center Leh on the theme Electoral literacy for stronger Democracy”. Chief guest of the function, Chemet Yurgail District Mobile Magistrate Leh (Munsiff Nobra) in his address, encouraged young voters to always take part in the political process.
In Pulwama, DLSA organized a function at District Court Complex to observe the Day under the chairman ship of District and Sessions Judge, Pulwama. Addressing the gathering, Secretary, DLSA, Khurshid-ul-Islam highlighted the significance of the day and briefed the participants about the value of vote.
National Voters’ Day was celebrated in Leh by District Election Office, Leh in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Leh. ADC, Leh Dr Zahida Bano presided over the function at DC Office Conference Hall, Leh. Stanzin Angmo, NYK, Leh highlighted the significance of the day. A Pledge taking ceremony was also held on the occasion.
To celebrate the occasion, a function was organized by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Ramnagar at Panchayat Ghar Dehari under the Chairmanship of Archana Charak (Sub Judge) Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Ramnagar. Sarpanch, Panches and Large number of local people of the area participated in the function.
To mark the occasion, an impressive function was held today at Town Hall Doda. District Election Officer (DEO) Doda, Sagar D Doifode was the chief guest on the occasion. At the outset DEO Doda administered the pledge to the participants. Addressing the participants DEO Doda said, “We have to educate and aware new voters about the ethical and qualitative participation in the electoral process”.
In this connection, a street play “Vote Keran ge hum, Vote Keran ge sab” was presented by the artists of the Abhinaya Kala Manch Reasi and Sangam Theatre Group Reasi in collaboration with District Administr-ation Reasi Conference Hall D C Office complex, Reasi. The play depicts rights of the voter and how to elect the right candidate.
National Voters’ Day was also celebrated at GDC Billawar. Principal of the College Dr Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion and he spoke at length on the theme of the day. He advised the students to actively participate in the electoral process and get their names registered in the voters list. Prof Anil Verma, HoD Education read the pledge for the active participation in the voting process.
The day was celebrated at Government Degree College (GDC) Jourian in collaboration with Tehsil office Jourian. Tehsildar Jourian Jai Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. A drawing/slogan writing competition on the theme ‘Electoral literacy for stronger democracy’ was also orgainzed to spread the awareness among the eligible voters. Principal of the College Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma urged the youth above 18 years to get registered as voters and meaningfully participate in the elections.
SVEEP Cell of Government College for Women Udhampur organized a rally on National Voters Day. Almost 80 students participated in the rally. The Rally was flagged off by the Principal of the college Prof Subhash Chander. Principal of the College, in his address to the students exhorted upon the utmost importance of our vote. After Rally, a poster making competition was also held in which 10 students took part.
To celebrate the Day, a programme was organized at GDC Thannamandi. Principal of the College Dr Javaid Ahmed Qazi was the chief guest on the occasion who advised the students to actively participate in the electoral process and get their names registered in the voters list, if not registered yet. In the programme all the students and whole faculty of the college were present. On the occasion, the pledge was red out by Prof Gowhar Wani HoD English.
Department of Horticulture, Jammu organized a function to observe National Voters Day. Director Horticulture Jammu, R K Katoch was the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, he elaborated on the importance of Voter’s Day and exhorted the officers/officials to educate the masses about its relevance.
SSK Higher Secondary School in Marh (Jammu), organized a voter awareness programme in its premises. A rally was conducted to mark the occasion. SDM, Marh participated in the rally during which students were not only enchanting the slogans spreading the message of importance of vote but they have also came with posters, banners etc. having messages for the same purpose.
The National Voters Day was observed at Government HSS Boys Kathua with the motive of making the voters about the importance of their vote. Principal Sanjeev Vaid flagged the rally which concluded at Women College Kathua where the program in connection with the Day was organized by Kathua administration. Students performed a nukkad natak and spread awareness among the people regarding their voting rights.
GHSS Camp Bohri celebrated the Day with spirit and enthusiasm. Principal of the School, Bal Ji Thaploo threw light on the significance of the day, while staff member and social worker Radhey Sham Mussa also spoke on the occasion. Thaploo advised the students to make proper use of their voting right at the time of elections.
The Day was also celebrated in the premises of GHSS (Camp) Purkhoo with zeal and zest. Principal of the School, Ramesh Kumar Hakim threw light on the importance of the day and urged the students for making proper use of their votes in order to elect proper candidates for good health of the Nation.
Government Central Basic Model Higher Secondary School, Purani Mandi, Jammu also celebrate the Day by organizing a function in its premises. Principal Prakash Sharma while speaking on the occasion highlighted the role of participation of every voter in a healthy democracy.
