National Youth Policy unveiled at KU

SRINAGAR, Feb 21: Terming youth as the key to success in future and agents of social change, Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad unveiled the National Youth Policy NYP-2014 and The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan at KU,  here today.
Prof Talat and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Er Farooq Ahmad Shah, who was chief guest on the occasion, also flagged-off a rally  in which scores of NSS volunteers from various schools and colleges of the Valley participated.
In his presidential address Prof Talat  said that India is one of the youngest nations in the world and is expected to have a very favourable demographic profile in the near future which gives us a great opportunity as well as a challenge.
Experts have opined that by year 2025 India would be the fifth largest economy of the world and to realize this vision of 2015 our youth have to compete and perform at best level in various spheres of life in addition to their academic achievements, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Srinagar Farooq A Shah said that National Youth Policy NYP-2014 and The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan have been conceptualized to empower youth to achieve their full potential, and through them enable the country to find its rightful place in the community of nations.
He said these programs have been conceptualized with an aim to develop the sporting talent amongst the youth and  if our youngsters take full advantage of these schemes our state and country will see many sporting legends in future.
