Natrang artists vibrate Gauhati with Ghumayee

JAMMU, Apr 1: The artists of Natrang Jammu vibrated Gauhati with the electrifying performance by a strong contingent of 50 artists to present a mega event ‘Jashn-e-Jammu & Kashmir’ designed and directed by Balwant Thakur. Organised by North-East Centre of Sangeet Natak Akademi New Delhi, the event was held at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre of performing arts which featured Balwant Thakur’s Internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ followed by a programme of the dances of J&K entitled ‘Celebrating Diversity’.
The art lovers of Assam gave a standing ovation to the presentations and were amazed the see the vibrant cultural diversity of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ which has already been presented in the International events in Russia, Germany, Hungary and Poland mesmerized the audiences here this evening through its powerful theme, highly innovative direction, spectacular visual design and mind-blowing music.
Those who gave outstanding performances included Vikrant Sharma(Paani Lane Wala), Anil Tickoo (Dulha), Tajasvi Sharma (Dulhan), Suresh Kumar (Baap), Sumeet Sharma (Mama) Sajra Qadir (Chachi), Aarushi Thakur (Saheli), Dimple Sharma(Pandit), Pawan Verma (Chadpala) Mohit Sharma, Ashwani Bali,  Surya Salathia, Ankush lakhnotra, and Mahakshit Singh Langeh. Suraj Singh’s out of the world singing was appreciated by all. The lights were designed and executed by Suraj Ganjoo and sound by Mohd. Yaseen. Neeraj Kant, Gauri Thakur, Namrata Chib and Sartaj Singh looked-after the stage management, costumes and properties.
This was followed by the presentation of the diverse tradition of the dances of J&K ‘Celebrating Diversity’ conceptualized and designed by Balwant Thakur and choreographed by Rakesh Kona.
