JAMMU, June 21: World Music Day was celebrated here today by Natrang with the presentation of chorus singing by a group of over 30 young artists.
Ranging from traditional to western, young singers enthralled the audience through their resonating soulful singing.
Few presentations were supported by the synchronized movements which not only complimented but also supplemented the overall impact of the musical presentations.
Earlier Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur dwelt in detail about the history and purpose of celebrating International Day of Music.
He informed that the celebration of World Music Day was conceived in 1981 at France by Jack Lang, the then French Minister of Culture with the aim to dedicate a day to music and its powerful universal language.
“By celebrating World Music Day, we acknowledge the vital role music plays in our society and in our personal lives,” Thakur maintained adding: “Music is the universal language of mankind and it has magical power to change the world.”
Artists who participated in celebrations of World Music Day were Deeksha Thakur, Navjot Kour, Muskhan Manhas, Anshu Sharma, Iruvantika Gurang, Shalini, Aaradhana Sudan, Rashmi Bhagat, Akriti Jamwal, Ayushika Rajput, Harman Deep Kour, Paratishtha Sharma, Vishakha Devi, Ayushi Sharma, Mahi Verma, Pooja Thakur, Sheetal Sharma, Palak Thappa, Prerna Sharma, Simran Bhagat, Simran Rajput, Pragi Sharma, Meenu Sharma, Nandini Sharma, Sukriti Khajuria, Geeta Thakur, Mehak Raina, Richa Dutta, Tania, Aanchal Sharma, Lakshita Devi, Pratibha Verma, Anshika Mangoch, Anshika Choudhary, Parul Magotra, Nandini Sharma, Lovish Mahajan, Bhumika Manhas, Aparna Singh and Kibriya Gohar.
