GUWAHATI, Oct 28: Natrang’s internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Bawa Jitto’ enthralled audiences thousands miles away at Pragjyoti Cultural Complex situated on the banks of majestic Brahamputra river at Guwahati in the National Theatre festival organized by National School of Drama, Union Ministry of Culture.
Written by Prof Ram Nath Shastri and directed by Balwant Thakur, this longest living contemporary play of India will also feature in two more national festivals on 30th October and 1st November at Tejpur and Jorhat in which five top theatre groups/directors of the country are being featured including Tripurari Sharma, Bansi Kaul, Vinay Sharma, Budha Sankhri besides Balwant Thakur.
For Jammu and Dogri language the presentation of their most celebrated play Bawa Jitto in North East is being considered as historic and all credit goes to the dedicated team of Natrang artists who are spreading the fragrance of their language and culture across language barriers and reaching out to the far-off regions of the country and abroad.
Natrang Director Balwant Thakur informed that a 25 member group of Natrang flew here all way to Guwahati to raise the flag of Dogri language and culture in the capital of Assam.
The proud artists of Natrang who gave remarkable performances include Girdhari Lal, Harbans Lal, Suresh Kumar, Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant, Subash Jamwal, Dimple Sharma, Mohd Yaseen, Sanchita Dubey, Vrinda Gujral, Meenakshi Bhagat, Mahikshit Singh, Gautam Kumar, Goutam Sharma, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Shivam Singh, Vrinda Sharma, Deepali Sharma, Mohit Kaul, Dewankshi Sabikhi, Mihir Gujral and Aadesh Dhar.
