‘Natrang’ stages Hindi play ‘Antraal Ke Baad’

JAMMU, Feb 14: Theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today staged Hindi play ‘Antraal Ke Baad’ written by Pratap Sehgal and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play is about an emotional widow who takes career break to care her new born and when time comes she gets neglect in reciprocation.
The curtain raises with Manju waiting for her son ‘Gaurav’ in a thunderous rainy night and calls her husband’s friend ‘Suresh’ to fetch him but in the meanwhile Gaurav arrives on his own and tells Manju about the scholarship he got from California University for higher studies and research.
Manju is reluctant in sending him abroad.
In next scene, Manju’s friend ‘Deepa’ is seen convincing her to let Gaurav go abroad for further studies.
She tells Manju, what their parents used to think, they don’t think so in turn and the same goes for their children.
But, the emotional mother says after a span of time moral values change.
She tells Deepa that when Gaurav was a year old, she too was offered scholarship by the University for Higher Studies which she refused for the sake of her child and her husband had then told her “Your child won’t take care of your sentiments, joys and worries for which you are sacrificing your career.”
After two years, Manju’s husband ‘Madhur’ expired in a road accident and Madhur’s friend Suresh had offered her marriage proposal which she rejected.
Now, the lonely mother does not want to let her son go abroad, but Gaurav without caring her mother’s emotions, sorrows and sentiments takes a flight to California.
In the end, dejected mother remembers her husband’s words “Your child won’t take care for your joys, sorrows and emotions for whom you are sacrificing your career.”
Artists who performed in the play were Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Kanan Preet Kour, Aarti Devi, Sushant Singh Charak and Khushal Bhat.
Lights of the play were designed and operated by Neeraj Kant Sharma whereas music of the play was scored by Lovely Sharma. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen.
