JAMMU, July 23: Hindi play ‘Hawalaat’ written by famous playwright and satirist, Sarweshwar Dayal Sexena was staged here today at Natrang studio under the direction of Neeraj Kant.
The play was assisted by Sushane Dulloo and publicity of the play was designed by Vanshika Pandoh.
The play proved to be a hard hitting satire on the establishment which has failed to tap the most energetic human resource of the country.
Story in the play ‘Hawalaat’ revolves around three youth who have no place to live. It was the coldest night of winter and they were without food and shelter. Since nobody was ready to offer them shelter, they thought it proper to have the same in a police lock-up. For this they approached a cop as criminals. For some time the cop did not believed them and asked them to establish their credentials by demonstrating their expertise in crime and past accomplishments.
They tried to convince him by giving a series of logics. To avoid them, the cop agrees to take them to the lock-up (Hawalaat) after tying their eyes.
Instead of taking them to the police station, the cop kept on taking them round and round at one cross road and finally left them at the place from where they had started.
The politicians of the country have been befooling the youth since independence in the same way the cop in the play did.
Artists who performed in the play were Chirag Anand, Aadesh Dhar, Abhimanyu Choudhary and Sumit Bandaral.
Lights of the play were executed by Neeraj Kant whereas the sound was rendered by Sushane Dulloo. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and the presentations were done by Brijesh Avtar Sharma.
