JAMMU, Oct 31: Theatre group Natrang here today staged Balwant Thakur’s Hindi play ‘Jaal’ at Excise and Taxation Training Institute, Nagrota.
The play was directed by Neeraj Kant and was presented with the support of J&K Excise Department. It showcases how drug menace is ruining generations like a wild fire crippling developing nations like India.
The play was not based on one story-line but as an experiment Balwant Thakur has woven multiple stories in one theme, focusing the spread of drug menace.
In a sequence a young boy is shown struggling for a good company after passing from school and entering to the college. He is isolated for not being the consumer of intoxications. All those around him treated him like a child and to prove that he has grown-up as a young man, he finds the easiest way and demonstrates the same by consuming a variety of intoxications.
In another sequence, a rural inhabitation particularly the men folk is shown drowned in the menace of alcohol.
The play unfolds a series of incidents where people influenced by drugs, alcohol and other intoxications create hell for themselves as well as for others.
Through this play Balwant Thakur has tried to make an appeal to save mankind from this dragon.
Actors who performed in the play were Neeraj Kant, Aadesh Dhar, Kananpreet Kour, Vishal Sharma, Abhimanyu Choudhary, Sanket Bhagat, Kushal Bhat, Sumit Bandaral, Sishant Singh Charak and Mohd. Yaseen.
