JAMMU, Feb 23: ‘Kavita Ka Chakkar’, a play in Hindi was staged here today at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu in its Weekly Theatre Series.
In the play, written by Devraj Dinesh and directed by Neeraj Kant, tragedy of a poet has been depicted in a comic manner. ‘Champa Lal’- a businessman by profession is obsessed with the art of poetry writing. All-time he confronts with adverse environment and things become sickening for him when he hardly finds a moment to complete his poem. The passion for the poetry reaches to such a level that he leaves his business establishment and locks himself in a room to have a suitable environment for the creation of a creative mood. This act surprises his wife who never saw him leaving his business till late hours of night. She smells some foul play and start cursing on him. By the time he is able to convince his wife, a friend makes an unwanted entry and further distracts his creative mood and focus on poetry. He struggles a lot to convince everyone to understand the agony of a creative mind and the process of its churning. This most misunderstood person hits his head around but hardly finds anyone who could understand the pain, miseries and sufferings of a creative creation. For him no one would starve for lands where hearts have been softened by poetry and prose. In his quest for the creation of single stanza in a poem he loses his business, wife, and friends and ironically finds no one to appreciate his art of poetry. The play though in a funny style portrayed the harsh reality behind the creation of creative works.
Those who acted in the play included Ashwani Bali, Sakshi Prakash, Pankaj Verma, Muddasar Ali Shah and Ankush Lakhnotra.
